MIDEUEN ACEH.EU.ORG , — Rini Moedry Acheh is located at the Northern tip of the island of Sumatra and has around 6 million inhabitants. Acheh has been in military conflicts with Indonesia for more than four decades, that is since1976. In the wake of the boxing Day tsunami, december 2004, the Free Acheh Movement (GAM) and Indonesia signed a peace deal in August 2005 that ended the thirty-year-military conflict. And during which around 50,000 Achehnese, including civilians were killed.
Fifteen years have now passed. Despite promises by successive Indonesian governments, this has been a lost decade for tens of thousands affected by the devastating conflict and the authorities have shown little interest in addressing past injustices. They have completely failed in their duty to provide truth, justice and full reparation to tens of thousands of victims (*)
